Wondering what's going on in Sacramento for 2022's Free Comic Book Day? Well, you're in the right town. Sacramento loves Free Comic Book Day, and we have your list of participating stores right here.

This year, Free Comic Book Day returns to the first Saturday in May. It's Saturday, May 7.

Like last year, Empire's Comics Vault & Hot Sauce is going with a private event for our Savings Club members. If you're curious about the additional benefits of this free program, read more about it online.

In the meantime, we want to make sure you get your Free Comic Book Day fix.

Some notes about our list:

  • Last year, the Sacramento Public Library had numerous participating locations, but we couldn't find any yet for this year. We'll keep checking and update you if we find something.

  • Typically, free comics are available on a first-come, first-served basis and while supplies last.

  • Lastly, our list is ordered alphabetically by city and then by store name.

  • MAY 6 UPDATE: We added links with extra information, 2 additional participating locations, and some information about Sacramento’s newest comic shop.

  • EXHIBITORS: We love a mini-con. Two stores we noted that have comics creators in their shops this year are Comics & Collectibles and A1-Comics Sacramento.

Popular Universe opened at the beginning of April 2022. They’re not participating in 2022’s FCBD since those free-to-the-public titles have to be ordered long in advance, but we wanted to give them a proper, online welcome. Watch for them to participate in 2023’s FCBD celebrations.

And if you’re out and about on Free Comic Book Day, maybe stop, say Hi, and give them a great big welcome. I can say with great pride that what it comes to comic books and collectibles—and lots of other things, of course—Sacramento is my kind of town.
