It's just around the corner, that's right -- Free Comic Book Day 2013. We want to make sure you block off the entire day of May 4, 2013 to enjoy the geek trifecta of events.

Free Comic Book Day Mini-Con 2013 at Empire's Comics Vault

This year will mark our 2nd annual FCBD Mini-Con. Of course, we've always celebrated FCBD but last year we added a mini comic book convention to showcase local talent. More details to come, so watch our blog or join our mailing list to stay in the loop. The store opens at 9 a.m. on FCBD. Rumor has it that the Sac City Rollers will be there in the morning... "May the Fourth Be With You" Star Wars Celebration Day


This event starts at 4pm and will be held at the West Sacramento Community Center. For only $6 you'll get to enjoy Star Wars cosplay, a costume contest for kids, Star Wars comedy, toy and memorabilia vendors, art, fan films and so much more! So get out your light sabers and join up for SacGeeks' and West Sacramento's Star Wars Celebration Day! But if you want the ultimate of ultimate days, remember to also attend...

The Sac City Rollers Roller Derby Bout


If you've never been to a roller derby bout, you don't know what you're missing! The high energy required for this fast-paced sport will thrill you. You'll also enjoy the style, finesse and power that these athletes bring to the rink. We are proud to sponsor the Sac City Rollers this year. As part of that, at each bout, you'll have the opportunity to win prizes donated by Empire's and other sponsors when you purchase a raffle ticket at the bout.

Tickets are available online, so watch the Sac City Rollers website for more details. Bouts take place at The Rink, 2900 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento, CA. Details have not been posted yet, however the bout will likely start sometime between 6:30-7:00 p.m.
